These are the rules for using Relief Map. We have written them the way we write the rest of the app: plainly, so you can read them once and know where you stand.
A web app that helps you find nearby restrooms, save the ones that work for you, keep private notes, show a card explaining your situation, and — with Plus — plan a trip and see where the long gaps are.
It is an information tool. It is not medical advice and not an emergency service.
Restroom information comes from OpenStreetMap, which is contributed by volunteers, and from inference about places that usually have a restroom. Both can be wrong.
A place may have closed, changed its policy, locked the door, or never have had a restroom at all. Opening hours, accessibility details and access rules may be out of date. We separate what has been confirmed from what is only likely, and we tell you which is which — but neither is a guarantee.
Do not rely on Relief Map as the only basis for any decision, especially one that affects your health or safety. Where it matters, call ahead or have a fallback. We provide the app as it is, and to the extent the law allows we are not liable for decisions made on the strength of it.
You need an account with a working email address, and you must be at least 16 years old (13 where your country allows it with a guardian's consent). Keep your sign-in details to yourself; you are responsible for what happens on your account.
Use the app for finding restrooms. Do not scrape or bulk-extract the data, resell it, attack or overload the service, break into other people's accounts, or submit observations you know to be false. Wrong data sends someone to a door that does not open, which is the one thing this app exists to prevent.
Everything you might need in a hurry — finding the nearest restroom, the map, saved places, notes and the card — is free. Plus adds trip planning with gap warnings and saved routes.
Plus costs $4.99 per month or $29.99 per year. Payment is taken by Stripe when you subscribe and renews automatically at the start of each period until you cancel. If we change the price we will tell you before it applies to you.
Cancel any time in Settings. Your Plus features stay available until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then stop. Nothing else about your account changes; your saved places and notes stay where they are.
If the app did not work as described, or you were charged by mistake, write to us and we will refund you. EU and UK consumers have a 14-day right to withdraw from a new subscription; by starting Plus immediately you ask us to begin the service within that period, and we will still refund the unused part if you change your mind. Beyond that we do not refund part-used periods as a matter of course, but we would rather hear from you than have you feel stuck.
You can delete your account at any time in Settings, which removes it and everything attached to it. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or its users at risk, and we will tell you why unless we are prevented from doing so.
Restroom data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database Licence (ODbL). Attribution appears wherever that data is shown in the app. The app itself, its design and its code remain ours.
If we change these terms we will update the date at the top and, for anything significant, tell you in the app. Questions go to support@reliefmap.app.
